![]() * A useful tactic is to trick the enemies into fighting each other. * Enemies are often seen fleetingly in the distance before they attack. * Early on, there's a point where enemies announce their presence by knocking over a bin which rolls into sight. * Enemies wield pipes and tools as melee weapons. * Your basic weapons consist of an electric shock attack and a melee, and the best option is to stun an enemy then attack ("the old one-two punch"). ![]() In particular, the low-level splicers and earlier levels of Bioshock remind me very strongly of Condemned. Coupled with some really weird flaws, like encouraging you to scour the levels for dead birds and bits of metal for no reason - and the forensics was a bit noddy, although all of it is redeemed by that bit where you follow trails around the farmhouse with the UV light.Ībout halfway through, in the abandoned department store, I realised that surely the team who developed Bioshock *must* have been influenced by Condemned. It's way underrated, isn't it? Some of the most atmospheric and inventive level design ever, and a great fighting system. So I bought Condemned (the first one) a couple of days ago, and played it almost straight through.
